Sports Injury Treatment:

State of the art modalities and individualized interventions are used to achieve return to sport, and injury prevention. Custom physiotherapy programs are designed to allow patients to achieve their maximal functional status.

Spinal/Joint Manipulation/Mobilization:

Gentle graded passive oscillations may be performed to soft tissue or joints, to alleviate pain or restore mobility. Very occasionally low amplitude, high velocity thrusts may be required to achieve the desired result.

Orthotics:

Properly made orthotics can provide an artificial base of support to allow the entire body to function properly. Dysfunction of foot mechanics often leads to subsequent problems elsewhere in the body. Orthotics are prescribed based on a thorough examination of the entire lower portion of the body, from the lumbar spine to the toes.

Acupuncture:

Acupuncture is used as a therapeutic modality to encourage natural healing, relieve/reduce pain and improve function of affected areas of the body. Very fine sterile disposable needles are inserted through the skin and tissues at specific points.

Physical Reconditioning:

Exercise programs are designed on an individualized basis with the needs and goals of the patients in mind. Physical reconditioning of the cardio-vascular and neuro-musculoskeletal systems is used to achieve maximal functional outcomes.

Functional Capacity Evaluations/Work Hardening Programs:

Northern Physiotherapy is equipped with rehabilitation equipment designed to replicate physical tasks required by many patients during a typical workday. Employers and insurers often utilize such services to provide information needed to best suit employees to appropriate positioning to minimize injury and maximize function.

Massage Therapy:

Massage therapy is a means of manually stimulating all the systems of the body through stretching, exercising and soft tissue work.
